Well, Finally!

It always makes me so mad to see Angelina and family, sans Shiloh. It's always her and Brad with the others, having a good 'ole time, looking all gorgeous and no Shiloh in sight. But, not today! The beautiful one is finally "let out"!! She looks just like Brad with Angie-lips. What a gorgeous child! Hey, Ang, put her in a pretty dress, huh? Or some color, at least. Right? I'm dying to dress her up in all the cutest little clothes I see when I'm looking around for other people's kids. Or for Isabella. Oh well!

Clothes like these:

The first two dresses are from babyGap. The last is a hair clip. Aren't they ADORABLE!?!

Book Happ'nins

Right now, I'm reading this by Jodi Picoult. It's very good. It's a story about a woman who gets left by her husband and her 7-year-old daughter sees everything. The family has never been religious but, all of a sudden, the little girl begins to quote Bible passages, perform miracles, and claim she's talking to God. I'm in the middle of the book or the almost middle and it's very good.

The above is my next book. I love Jane Green. Well, there was one book of hers that I couldn't keep reading. I'm not sure if I remember the name. When I do, I will let you know. "Bookends" and "The Other Woman" are both very good.

This book, "Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me" is by the lady who inspired such favorite songs such as: "Something" (George Harrison), "Layla" (who our dog is named after), and "Wonderful Tonight"(Eric Clapton). I am waiting for this one to arrive. Can't wait!
I've recently finished "Testing Kate" by Whitney Gaskill. I liked it. It was set in New Orleans because Kate attends Tulane Law School. I am *maybe* book reviewing it.
I was reading "Mercy" by J. Picoult but, I just had to stop. There's adultery and the book is about a man who kills his wife because she asks him too. She is dying of cancer. I just couldn't keep going anymore. The adultrey and the cancer and all... it was just depressing me. I'll go back to it.
What are you reading?
Do you ever get too involved in your books?

Gimmie, Gimmie

Breatheheavy.com has leaked Britney Spears' supposed new single "Gimme More"
CLICK to listen... My computer refused to cooperate and I could only listen to about 1 minute. Maybe it's not a Brit Brit fan?

Also, another song, "Cold As Fire" can be heard HERE. AGGGGGHHHHHH!!! The 1st 30 seconds of synthesized "Yeah" is just unnecessary. I like the beat but, OMG, the lyrics... I really laughed out loud. You gotta go listen! It's ridiculous.

And can we TALK about this picture? Photoshop is her BESTEST FRIEND these days.

Wouldn't Cross My Mind

A friend of mine and I were talking the other night about husbands, ours and her sister's in particular. Her older sis is a gal I love. She's a fabulous mom of three gorgeous girls, has a full time job, and has a HUSBAND. She hasn't had the best of weeks. She's been sick, her oldest has been sick, her boss and co-workers have been jackasses, blah, blah, blah... On Monday Sister made a big huge pot 'o spaghetti, coulda fed an army. She had a bad day that day and Husband was working that night. When Sister got home, all hacking cough, sick, hungry kids she goes to the fridge knowing they have leftover 'sghetti to eat and feed the troops.
WRONG! Husband, feeling too lazy to just make his individual plate, took THE WHOLE POT with him. Now, Friend and I were saying (like Sister was saying) how completely selfish! Did he not realize that his wife and children were going to eat that, too. NO, they just don't think like we do. SO, as usual, this got Friend and me rantin' and ravin' about our husbands.
Now, maybe y'all are reading this and thinking, "Well, gee, Shoeaddict, Bob/Billy/Joe/Ricky/Cletus(HA HA- little shout out) never acts like that!" Well, good for you. Please leave a detailed comment about how you do it.
I know that Luke loves me. Just as I know Friend's Husband and Sister's Husband love them and their families. They just don't think like we do, I guess. For example, I was sick and Luke decided to do some laundry. OK, thanks, babe!! I later go into the bathroom where the dirty clothes live. I close the door because I need privacy (I'm in the bathroom, hello!). I then notice that, yes, he has taken clothes from the dirty clothes pile... HIS CLOTHES. Only his clothes. We do not separate our dirty clothes (not our "whites"- tees, panties, etc...) so he had to pick out his clothes from mine. I would never do that. NEVER. EVER. It wouldn't cross my mind to do laundry and NOT DO HIS!!!
Here's another one: I don't eat steak. We have been together for 8 years and never in all those years have I ever eaten steak. I stopped eating steak when I was about 16. Luke and i met at 18. Now, my parents eat steak all the time. My father is a legend in his steak cooking. Luke's family loves steak. They cook and eat it all the time. Graham, the youngest brother, doesn't eat steak either. In both households, when steak is being cooked, chicken is always grilled for me at both places. I don't demand it- I can eat side dishes. Anyway, Luke brought home two bloody steaks and put them in the fridge. Gross and what am I going to eat?
Now, let me make sure that EVERYONE knows that I do cook for the boy and I do his laundry. I clean up after him, I buy his toiletries, his clothes, I BABY him. Sometimes, he likes to grill. That's what I'm talking about. But, I'm also saying that I would never go to the store for the sole purpose of buying tonight's dinner and buy say- salad or crawfish stuff. He wouldn't eat that. If I buy things like that I am sure to buy stuff he likes. It wouldn't cross my mind to go to the store and not buy him something.
The whole point is this- I'd never ONLY do my dishes, my laundry, buy food for me, cook something for myself. When I pop into a convenience store, if I see his fav candy bar, I buy it for him.
Know what I mean or am I making no sense?

Open Letter

I received the following comment yesterday from someone named Kat. I thought that because I do have the abortion tally on my blog and I am adamantly pro-life and anti-abortion, I should address this openly.

I think it is absolutely and completely inappropriate of me to criticize your
opinion, but I am going to, because everytime I come to read your blog it is there...the
abortion tally you have posted. I see your point in posting it, but I don't
agree with its number. I don't think it clarifies the issue. I wish it
listed
how many women died in childbirth during that time. Or how many
children died
due to abuse from their parents, caregivers, foster parents,
or adoptive
parents. Or how many pregnant women were killed by their
partners/husbands
during that time. Or how many years children spend in
foster care or group homes
after being removed from an abusive home. I would
like to know, also, if
abortion were outlawed, what you personally think the
penalty should be for a
woman who has one--300 years ago it was death.I
would like to end this saying,
please DO keep your button. It reflects your
values. I only wished to express
mine. I know you've probably heard others
opinions about it, I just hope mine
was one that doesn't offend you, that
you can say, I see your point, but I don't
agree."

Let me begin by telling you, Kat, that I have not "heard others' opinions about it" and I don't "see your point". I am very strongly against abortion but, I'm also a child's rights advocate. The things you mentioned, child abuse, spousal abuse, etc., are illegal and morally wrong. I don't think that parents have the right to abuse their children. I don't think they have the right to murder them either. Everyone has choices- wear a condom, take the pill, protect yourself from pregnancy if you don't wont to be pregnant. I have been in a position where I absolutely could not get pregnant because of my life's situations and I did the ultimate birth control- abstinence.

I know that people will argue the circumstances when a woman didn't have the choice of birth control- in instances of rape and such. This is where my faith and true belief in God comes into play. I'm a Christian and that's the basis of it all. I believe that God gives us babies. They are not mistakes and he doesn't want us to get rid of them or mistreat them. There are countless families who are desperate for a child so, give the child a chance to live and give him or her up for adoption.

As far as this,"I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, ALSO, IF ABORTION WERE OUTLAWED, WHAT YOU PERSONALLY THINK THE PENALTY SHOULD BE FOR A WOMAN WHO HAS ONE...", my answer to that is the punishment should be what the punishment is for premeditated murder.

I do understand that if the life of the mother is in jeopardy, that is a different story. I still wouldn't have an abortion but, I know my husband and family wouldn't agree. This is, again, a case where my strong faith in God comes in and I turn to those beliefs.

I know several people who have had abortions. Each woman still thinks of that child. Each woman knows the child's approximate birth date and age. Each woman mourns the loss of that child.

In closing, I want to say to you, Kat, that I have no memory of you ever commenting here. Do you come here often? (Ha Ha, like a pickup line) I want you and everyone else who reads The Diary to know that I don't post anything that I don't believe in or trust. I'm going to tell you the truth about what I like and don't. I'm going to tell you who I'm praying for and if I say I'm praying for you, I really am. If I say that I wear this lip gloss and love it, I really do wear it and I really do love it.

When it comes to things I'm passionate about, I know what I'm talking about. I'm not flippant about them. I didn't put the abortion button up just to do it. I know EXACTLY how I feel. And thanks for permission to keep it up because it's staying. You are more than welcome to come back and visit but, this ends this discussion. I'm not going to go back and forth and back and forth. I hope you do come back, I love my readers! I will not, however, compromise myself or my beliefs for anyone.

Some Celeb News

It has been confirmed that Owen Wilson was brought to the hospitalized by ambulance due to an attempted suicide. No other details were confirmed but, rumors say that the 38-year-old slit his wrists and took sleeping pills. The call to 911 came at 12:08 pm on Sunday from Owen's Santa Monica home as an "attempt suicide". It is said that brother Luke found Owen and made the call. Owen is currently (at the time I published this) recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Sources say that Owen has been very depressed for years. This is very upsetting, of course. I hate the thought. I'm very glad that this was only an attempt, a "cry for help" and hope that he does get it. In much happier news, Jacinda Barrett and her husband welcomed a baby girl on August 20th. The baby's name is... SATINE ANAIS GERALDINE MACHT (dad's name is Gabriel Macht). Satine? When I first saw it, I read SaLtine, like the cracker. Now, I'm thinking two things SATINE (a) like Satan (b) like Satin. I'm pronouncing it- Say-teen. Anyway, Jacinda was in The Real World London. Remember?

These are the ideas that I had for the graphic/picture for the QOTD. Which do you like better? Should I use A) SHOES (because I'm the shoeaddict)? B)A Letter "Q" for the word question?
C) A PRETTY DESIGN?

D) TALKING MOUTH- asking the question

E) TELEPHONE- calling to ask a question (I could pick a different phone)

G)LITTLE GIRL RAISING HER HAND- to ask a question

Tell me which one is the best. Or if you have a better idea, let me know but, I'm deciding today. If you don't know, tell me which one(S) you think are dumb because if I get a bunch of answers like "I don't know" and I pick one, I don't want everyone to think it's dumb!!!

Update-Bridget & Tom Updated Again-More Details

According to sources, Tom was with Bridget yesterday when she gave birth to their son. Also, according to BostonHerald.com the two are thinking of "an Irish-sounding name" for their son because they are both of Irish decent. William is said to be the front runner. Good name but, not overly Irish-sounding, hmm? Now, read the book review below...
UPDATE-8/24/07 (11:24 am)- Reports say that Bridget did have to have a c-section because the baby was in a transverse lie position. Tom missed the actual birth by just a few minites. The baby is said to weigh 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 22 1/4 inches long. There are conflicting reports about the name because no official statements have been made. I'm hearing both William and Jonathan.
UPDATE- 8/25/07- At last nights Pat's game, announcers told the crowd the baby's name is Jonathan Brady.
UPDATE-8/28/07- Bridget tells PEOPLE magazine that Tom was present for the birth. The baby's name is John Edward Thomas Moynahan.

Luke Had to Come Check on Me

Because I was literally SOBBING during the season finale of Army Wives tonight. It originally aired last night (Sunday) but, I watch on Mondays for the flow of my TV schedule. Anyway, I did a post on this show when it premiered and pretty much got a "No thanks!" I'm not sure if any Diary readers watch this (Naomi, maybe?) but, I feel compelled to write this because I was so moved. (Trevor & Roxy Leblanc renewing their vows)

I love the characters on this show. Roxy, played entertainingly by Sally Pressman, is a breath of fresh air. She's a mix of both tough-as-nails and vulnerability. She's the newbie on post and in the season finale, Trevor is deployed.

(Chase Moran being "shaved" by children Lucas and Katie)

I watch this show every week and think the same thing, "Thank God there are men and women out there willing to do this for me and my loved ones. Thank God there are men and women willing to do this for the country and the freedom that I love. Thank God for them and thank God I didn't fall in love with one of them. And GOD BLESS the spouses, children, parents, etc... they leave behind. That is true bravery."

(Pamela Moran, played by the beautiful and hilarious Bridget Braddah, on her post radio show)
(Pamela, Roxy & Trevor at the 4th of July party at Claudia Joy's house)

(Chase waving good-bye to Pamela before he leaves. Another time I cried)
(Joan Burton, played by Wendy Davis. Her husband is the only "Army Husband", Roland.)

(My favorite girls on the show in an episode called " Dirty Laundry")

(Denise & Jeremy Sherwood welcoming home their husband and father, respectively)

(Kim Delany plays Claudia Joy Holden)

The season premiere featured a ceremony honoring the new post commander which was not Michael Holden. He was passed over, unfairly, according to Claudia Joy. The issue is repeatedly brought up throughout the season.

I'm really serious, y'all should watch this if it goes into reruns. It's an excellent show. It's got great actors. I'm just sayin'. And I'm sure no one else would cry. I'm a known crybaby.

Question of the Day- How it's Gonna Go

I'm gonna ask a question everyday (it'll be titled "Shoeaddict Asks") and you answer. Yes, you CAN (for now) be anonymous. If you want to be anonymous to the public but, allow me to know who you are, put your email address in the space for it. Only I can see that. I will answer the question either right away or later on in the day. For fun, and to see how well I'm putting myself out there, if I don't answer, you give your answer and then what you think my answer will be.

So, the question will be asked. I'll ask you to also answer what you think my answer is and you give me the answer(s).

If you have an idea for the Question, EMAIL ME

Be as honest as you want while being as respectful as possible of other people, please. But, honesty is the most important thing. I wanna know the truth!

250- There's More Where Those Came From

This is my 250th post, or (diary) entry, as I like to refer to them. I've said it before and will say it again, blogging has been a wonderful thing for me. I have made friends with great people. I've learned about things I never would have learned about (and I love that). I've discovered all types of different parenting styles. I've also learned a little something about myself.

I have learned that I do have the talent to write and that people other than my mother will read what I write and, *gasp*, actually like it. I really have been pleasantly surprised by the comments made by total strangers (and, of course, by my mother) about my writing. I enjoy knowing that what I've written has sparked some sort of emotion- laughter or tears or even just a second thought to a topic. I appreciate that from a writer so, I have been very glad to get those comments.

I have also observed that in the blogging world, like any other, there are cliques. Some of you may have noticed the cliques, or not. I've always been the girl who was friends with every type of group in school. I can get along with anyone. I have a wide spectrum of interests and so I visit lots of different types of blogs. There is one group in particular that, even though I comment on a few of their blogs, I get no response. Hey- whatever! I still read a certain one everyday with the rest of my favs and continue to comment and be ignored. I have a feeling as to why I'm not allowed but, if I say, I'd be alienating an entire group of people that don't deserve it. I could be wrong, too. It's happened before.

I have also noticed that the harder I work on an entry, the more people seem to ignore it!! In that I mean that I feel like I get less comments on those entries. Guess I shouldn't do book reviews anymore? Ummmmm, nah! I enjoy it. But, I love comments, too!! So, tell me what you want MORE of and what you want LESS of, m'kay?

Now, let me tell you what's coming up at The Diary.

Thanks for your feedback on any or all of this! Thanks for reading The Diary!!

P.S. If you've left a comment and I haven't emailed a response, check the comments. If you don't find one there, I'm working on it!

P.P.S Do you want the MUSIC back? Or no?

It's Like Drive-Thru Jail

Nicole Camille Richie (yeah, that's her middle name. I like it.) served her 4 day sentence in 82 minutes. She was sentenced to 4 days with a 1 day credit for the 6 hours she spent in jail when she was arrested. So, she checked herself into Lynwood Correctional Facility (where Paris served her time) at 3:15 pm and was out by 4:37 pm. She was accompanied to the jail by her lawyer and by her boyfriend and baby daddy, Joel Madden. The 2nd picture is her mug shot. I love that smirk on her face.

Book Review-3

It's 2:23 am and I finished reading this book and I'm so sad. I should've paced myself. I should've savored it. But, I did not and I knew I wouldn't.

I got up just to write this because I couldn't stop composing it in my head. It's The Urge. OK, so, the book. I gave you guys what booklist said about it. Now, here's MY take and a lil bit of me and how MY shoe addiction plays into it.

Lorna Rafferty works as a waitress, is single and in debt. She has CREDIT CARDS. S. More than one. A lot. And she l.o.v.e.s shoes. A lot. She gets her electricity cut off and notices about her car being repossessed but, she is still going on ebay, rationalizing that Marc Jacob boots at $150.00 (or something) is an investment because that's a steal of a deal. *Cut to me. I love shoes. I have many, many, MANY, pairs. BUT, I do not own a pair that are designer. Oh, trust that I will. But, I am not a shoe snob. I have Pay Less shoes. The most expensive shoes I own are Birkenstocks and, those are not my favorites. Not even in the top 5. Or even 10!*

Lorna gets this idea that there might be other "addicts" like her in her area. She goes on "Gregslist" and writes up an ad: Shoe Addicts Anonymous- Are you like me? Love shoes but can't keep buying them? If you wear a 7 1/2 medium and are interested in swapping your Manolos for Maglis, etc., Tuesday nights in the Bethsida area, email Shoegirl2205@aol.com or call 301-555-5801. Maybe we can help each other.

Helene Zaharis is a senator's wife in a loveless marriage. She too is a shoe addict and her husband controls her with the money. She seeks shoes and friendships in the group. Her character is a good one. Her husband is sleazy.

Sandra is an overweight, agoraphobic, phone-sex operator who loves shoes, too. She has plenty of money to feed her addiction for shoes but, is challenged by her therapist to join a group or something to get out of her house. When she stumbles across the ad, she decides to try it, "Just once." Sandra finds more than just shoes but, friends and herself.

And finally, Jocelyn, the naive nanny. She doesn't care about shoes but, just wants to get out of the house or her nights off or her boss will give her work to do, that she doesn't pay her for! She joins the group and brings shoes she spends hours searching for in thrift stores and vintage shops. I get really angry at her employer, Mrs Oliver. I would be sooooo mad and cry a million times if I worked for her.

Of course, there are some aspects of the story that are far-fetched. One particular thing that bugs me a lot. Most far-fetched incidents in stories don't bother me but, this one did. I cannot really say what it is and it probably won't bother anyone else. I'll discuss it later after giving you all a chance to read. And I do expect SOMEBODY to read it.

I related very much to some of the characters, if not a few. I do believe that I have an obsession with shoes that others don't. The way they are described in the book, the arches and the heels and the smells. The feeling that the girl gets when slipping them on her feet... I get that. I'm there. That is me. I've said before that when I get shoes in the mail, I instantly put them on and walk around the house in them. I wear them in whatever I'm wearing- pj bottoms and t-shirts, nightgowns, whatever. I will be lounging on the couch, watching TV or on the computer, wearing my favorite Old Navy pj shorts, old ratty t-shirt, and my 4 inch, red Steve Madden shoes. I gotta go pick out some shoes to wear! I've been wearing my black, Oh Deer! Marilyn's.

The book is hardcover, which I didn't know, and beautiful. I'm not giving it away but, will lend it out. I have put my name (just 3, not all 4- ha) and the date in it and everything. This is a big deal because the turnaround on books here is huge so they gotta go to make room for new ones. I've kept only the very special ("Valley of the Dolls"- which I've read a number of times, some J. Picoult, ummmm, it's 3 am, I can't think).

There are no sex scenes but, very dirty and graphic words (Sandra is a phone-sex operator) so you've been warned.

Now, who's gonna read it? Who's gonna read The Pink Ghetto? Picture Perfect? Hmmmmm???

EDITED TO ADD- There is a character named Holden. That is the ONE boy name that Luke and I agree on and reading it, saying it so many times (not that many)... I REALLY like it a lot!!! Just saying.

I Love A Quiz

Your Score: Snuffleupagus

You scored 60% Organization, 53% abstract, and 59% extroverted!

This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are somewhat organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

I bet you didn't think you were Snuffleupagus. Let's find out why.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. Alloyius Snuffleupagus (and all Snuffleupagus') is not sloppy by nature, but he moves so incredibly slowly that it is impossible for him to be totally organized.

You both are about equally concrete and abstract thinkers. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course. Snuffy generally has very basic interests, but he explores his abstract sensitive side when he plays his snuffleflute.

You both are somewhat introverted. Originally Snuffleupagus was very shy and was only Big Bird's invisible friend. However as he has aged he has started to build new friendships with new characters. Like Snuffy, you probably like to have some time to yourself. However, you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Cookie Monster
Ernie
Elmo
Kermit the Frog
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley

Book Review-2 (and then I kinda ramble, sorry)

"Picture Perfect" is by the amazing author, Jodi Picoult. Her books are not light, easy reads but, meaningful and thought provoking. I've read about teen suicide in "The Pact", child abduction in "Vanishing Acts", teen pregnancy and baby killing on an Amish farm in "Plain Truth", child molestation in "Perfect Match" and a daughter who wants to be medically emancipated from her parents in "My Sister's Keeper".

In "Picture Perfect", Cassie Barrett, an anthropologist, meets super movie star, Alex Rivers, when she serves as his technical adviser on a movie set. After a whirlwind courtship, they marry quickly and quietly in the Serengeti. Picoult takes us through a marriage where people's past cannot be shaken off and the truth will come out somehow. It's also a story about people not feeling as they belong. Cassie, the simple scientist, doesn't feel comfortable in the glitzy Hollywood world. And Alex has trouble with shedding his past and feeling comfortable in his own skin or even knowing who he is.

One thing I love about Picoult is that she takes these topics that seem so black and white and shows you where there are shades of grey.

*There is sex and violence so I rate it an R.*
*I'm wondering if anyone read "The Pink Ghetto" from book review number 1
*Let me know if you plan to read this book or have read it or any other J.P. book.
*My next Picoult book is "Mercy"
*I began "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" last night and I. LOVE. IT. No, LOVE!!!! Let me give you a passage at the beginning that made my heart race because, let me tell you, I really do feel this way... sick, I know.

"... pushed the tissue aside, and the heady smell of leather filled her nostrils, sending a familiar tingle straight through her core. The feeling- this thrill-never got old, no matter how many times she went through the ritual.
She touched the tightly stitched leather and smiled. She couldn't help it. This wicked pleasure at its sensuous, tactile, hedonistic best. It made her skin prickle from head to toe.
She ran her fingertips along the smooth surface, skidding over the grace arch, like a cat stretching under the midday sun; she smiled at the sharp but satisfying prick of the spike. Yes. Yesss."
Let me tell y'all that I am there. That is ME. Especially the smell and the arch and spike part. Ohhh, love em. So, that's what I'm finished reading and what I'm reading now. What are y'all reading? "Twilight" or it's sequels?
And yay! Damages comes on tonight!!!! Sometimes that show makes me feel like an idiot (anyone else?) but, I'm sooooo still loving it. And Saving Grace. That show is fantastic. Holly Hunter's character is so multi-layered and the show is brilliantly written.
OK, if you're still reading, you're a champ! Sorry for the super long post.

*EDITED TO ADD-I was asked in the comments if I bought shoes in all these states. I think that I didn't in TN, MO or AK. I may be wrong about TN. I remember going there and there was shopping.
